CLUB STATEMENT
Oldham Athletic would like to assure fans that recent events relating to our position with HMRC have been incorrectly reported and we are indeed completely up to date with all our liabilities relating to the club.
The liability to HMRC referred to in the winding up order had already been paid in full and we are expecting a formal retraction from HMRC in the next edition of the London Gazette.
There is no secret that the approaching summer months for football clubs can cause cash flow issues as there is virtually no income in May, June and July whilst the running costs of the club are as much as £750,000. However, we would like to make it 100% clear that under no circumstances were the season tickets put on sale early to help pay any outstanding monies to HMRC.
We would also like to thank the vast majority of our fans who unconditionally support our club and understand the difficulties that not only Oldham, but many other clubs in our division, face continually and realise that we are doing the absolute best we can to provide a competitive team on the pitch as well as keeping the club financially stable.
