Banks: “There Is A Buzz Around The Place.”

15 February 2017

Midfielder Ollie Banks admits there is a real buzz about the place following last night’s win against Charlton Athletic.

The 24-year-old scored the only goal of the game in the fourth minute to win the game for Athletic and he praised the manager’s impact since his arrival.

He said: “Training is enjoyable, there is a buzz around the place and the lads are really enjoying it.

"Nobodies place is safe and we’ve seen that over the last few weeks with the squad rotation.

“Everyone is fighting it out week in week out to keep the shirt so that’s a positive.

“The lads are working extremely hard, you could see that tonight.”

Banks put in a man-of-the-match display and felt his side were always in control of the game.

“We got the goal early and did a professional performance tonight and seen it through well in the end,” he commented.

Speaking about his goal, Banks added: “We know that Chris Taylor has got great quality so when I seen him with the ball, I made an advanced run forward and thankfully the ball went in the back of the net."

Confidence is high in the dressing room at the moment and asked if Latics feared anybody in the division, Banks responded: “I don’t think we ever have.

"There is nobody to fear in this league. The only games where we have really struggled are Bradford home and away.

“It’s important that we get the wins against the teams around us and then we have a good go against the teams at the top.”
