New North Stand

16 May 2013

Preparation work begins

Fans will see changes as the club is moving some of the operational functions such as the police control unit and a number of turnstiles, all of which will be complete and ready for the new season.

The build contract for the main works is in the process of being procured but, in advance of this and in readiness for the coming season, work is well underway to get the stadium ready for the construction period which is likely to start later in the summer.

Initial works have commenced at Boundary Park in preparation for the construction of Latics’ new North Stand.

This is another exciting step forward with the plans and the club looks forward to announcing further news about the stand construction soon.

Chairman Simon Corney explained: “Following the Planning Committee approval for the new stand, we are preparing to start the build and make sure that Boundary Park remains operational and meets our Football League requirements throughout the construction period.

“We are not in a position to announce who the main contractor will be. We have tenders out with contractors at the moment, and we will let that process take its course.

“However, we know that the current stadium layout would be impacted by the build when it does get underway, and we have therefore had to undertake some key works so that our season is not affected.”

Oldham Council confirmed planning approval for the new North Stand in April 2013 and, when delivered, will see a new 2,500 capacity stand, a health and fitness suite, supporters’ bar and fantastic event facilities.
