Simpson on Latics' giantkilling act
Robbie Simpson described Latics' victory against Liverpool in the FA Cup with Budweiser as one of the highlights of his career.Latics' striker said: "I won at Manchester United with Coventry City in the Carling Cup, but this ranks alongside that.
"It is a great day for the football club, and not only for the prize money.
"The lads deserve it because we have had a tough run in the league."
Simpson added it was clear to see the players gave everything.
He continued: "I thought we were outstanding in the first half and when we got a goal early in the second half to go 3-1 ahead we instinctively sat deeper.
"Liverpool then brought on their captain (Steven Gerrard) who is still one of the best players in the world. You could see the difference as soon as he came on.
"He gave them a lift, but our boys stuck at it and our football was superb towards the end.
"When the board went up showing six minutes of stoppage time, my heart was pounding, but we managed to hang on.
"Everyone on the pitch, as well as those in the background, were absolute heroes."

Simpson was not surprised by the strength of Liverpool's team saying he could envisage some of their players warning Brendan Rodgers about their ability following last season's cup tie at Anfield.
He continued: "They could well have told him to field a strong team because we are decent, something we proved from the start when we got into their faces and didn't show them any respect.
"The gaffer picked a very forward-thinking team with Matt Smith and myself up front with Jose Baxter just behind us. That showed our intent and we just had to deliver for him and, thankfully, we did."
Simpson added it was great for him to play in front of a first full house at Boundary Park.
He said: "It was my first experience of a sold-out Boundary Park and it was brilliant.
"I just hope they come back for our next league match."
Simpson is looking forward to playing Everton in the fifth round.
He was on loan from Huddersfield at Brentford who played Everton in the Carling Cup but missed out through injury.
"Hopefully I will get to play against them this time and we can get to turn them over as well," he concluded.
